I have a deep dislike for the word „consume“ when talking about viewing media. It implies that the viewer was mindlessly exposed to it and that they devoured it instead of intentionally engaging with it. Lots of people use it as a catch-all for read, watch and listen when all it means is they are lured into it like mindless beasts. Instead we should be engaging with media, intentionally seeking it out, and being mindful of what we do seek out.
